Our 2000 Ursa was created from spectacular Washington State fruit, grown at the beautiful Alder Ridge Vineyard, overlooking the Columbia River. Harvest began on September 23rd, 2000, with only handpicked fruit from extremely low yield vineyard blocks, some under 1 ton per acre.

For our 2001 Ursa, we featured fruit from the Chandler Reach Vineyard near Benton City and Merlot from Alder Ridge.

For 2002 we were one of a select handful of wineries to obtain our grapes from Stillwater Creek, a 245-acre family-owned vineyard on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills near Royal City and we also sourced fruit from Elerding Vineyards near Prosser.  The grapes were hand-picked between September 27th and October 30th, 2002. The fruit was all hand-picked from blocks which yielded .75 to 1.9 tons per acre.

For 2003, the already‑famous Boushey Vineyard contributes a delicate perfume to the powerful Stillwater grapes, to create Ursa’s renowned velvety and feminine elegance. The 2003 wines also introduce the use of some classic red grape varietals to our blends ‑ Malbec and Petit Verdot - adding more complexity as well as some fun to both Ursa and Arctos.

Located in the Frenchman Hills of Washington State’s Columbia Valley, Stillwater Creek Vineyard has ascended to the top of our “must have” vineyard sites. In fact, for 2004 and 2005, we used Stillwater fruit exclusively.
