| Our winery's second release is created from
spectacular Washington State fruit, grown at the beautiful Alder Ridge and
Chandler Reach vineyards. Harvest began on September 29th, 2001, with only
handpicked fruit from extremely low yield vineyard blocks. The grapes were
then hand-sorted and crushed into small one-ton fermenters, where they were
punched down by hand 2-3 times per day. Following fermentation, only
free-run juice was transferred into 100% new French Oak barrels. After a
year and a half, special barrels were selected to create the Ursa blend.
This sexy blend then spent some additional time in barrel, and had the
luxury of 8 months bottle aging before its release on March 27th, 2004. Named for the great bear constellation, Ursa is our proprietary blend that was created to express a more elegant style of red wine. Lush, warm Merlot, blended with floral, Asian-spiced Cabernet Franc, was layered with the structure and focus of Cabernet Sauvignon. Expressive and approachable, this is a fine wine that may be enjoyed upon release, yet will also evolve in the cellar for up to eight years. Production - 397 cases Retail Price - $26 |
