Here's what they're saying about Baer WineryA few random and hasty TN from an impromptu gathering IMO, the 03 Ursa and Arctos are both a bit more tannic
and thus ready for a longer stint in the cellar should you wish it. I
get the impression that the 02's are 3-5 year wines and the 03's are 5-7
year wines. Regardless, the 03's are drinking well young just as the
02's did. (Hopefully, Scott Thornber will weigh in as I recall he is a
Baer fan...and an accomplished palate.) The 03's are a bit more
concentrated, though both vintages are quite lush. The only recent winery that has impressed, was Baer. Rich loamy flavors, deep fruit and some mocha and toasted oak were also present. The wine also reinforces my opinion that merlot and syrah are Washington's best grapes. (92 pts.) Mark Squires' Wine Bulletin Board on eRobertParker.com, August 18, 2006 |
